Where's the water?
Nina Johnson-Milewski · Gallery Diet & The Miami Rail

Why can't I see the water?

The vast majority of Miamians experience Biscayne Bay while riding over one of the various causeways that connect the city to Miami Beach. This is a shame! Where is our waterfront? Miami Beach is beautiful but many of us don't live there or even often go there, the city of Miami deserves its own waterfront and why shouldn't we have it? I don't like making comparisons to other cities but I certainly can envision a pathway akin to Chicago's Lake front or Boston's Riverside...

More green space!

Create more green space that is not only pedestrian friendly, but water friendly along the city side of Biscayne Bay. There are a few examples of this in places like Morningside Park and Margaret Pace Park, but both are strictly prohibitive in terms of actually accessing the water. The city has done a great job in creating more waterfront green space with parks like Manatee Bend Park, but this effort needs to increase as areas like the Biscayne Corridor and Downtown.
